Winter Futsal for U5-U8 Rec

Winter Training:
For U7 and U8 players only, we are
offering open play futsal sessions in the Maple Elementary School gym (in Avon
267 & 36) on Monday nights beginning 11/9 and concluding 12/21 (7 sessions).
Start times will be either 6:00 PM or 7:15 PM and will depend on the number of
players who sign up. Play may be co-ed or boys / girls separate depending on
demand. The planned U8 futsal league at Krannert has been shelved due to low
demand so this is instead of that. There will be a brief warmup with some
footskills by qualified coaches and then players will be split into teams to
play futsal. What is futsal you ask? Futsal is a soccer-like game played on a
basketball sized court with no walls and a low bounce ball. It is very popular
in South America and is gaining popularity in Europe. It is considered to be far
superior to indoor soccer (with walls) for developing soccer skills. Google or
Wikipedia "futsal" for more details. It is the best thing your son or daughter
can do in the winter months to improve their soccer skills besides moving to the
streets of
São
Paulo . Cost for the 7 open play sessions is $35 (includes
t-shirt) and will be payable at the first session.
U5-U8 footskills training, for the
U5-U8 groups we will be offering footskills sessions Monday nights starting 1/4
and going until 3/8 (8 sessions). These will also be at the Maple Gym in Avon.
Groups will be divided by age. These will be coach guided sessions with an
emphasis on developing the footskills needed to excel in soccer. We will also
play fun games including futsal. Cost for the 8 footskill sessions is $35
(includes t-shirt) and will be payable at the first session.
